Markets are down sharply this morning after major escalation with Iran over the weekend sent oil prices soaring as much as 4% overnight.

Breadth is extremely poor with AI infrastructure stocks and memory leading the way down. We are in an interesting dichotomy where the SPY chart still looks good this morning, looking for all-time highs, but individual stocks, in many cases, look like they are headed to major support levels.

Adding uncertainty to the situation, the inflation measures of CPI and PPI come out on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively and earnings season kicks off with the big banks. NFLX reports Thursday after the close ahead of big tech earnings over the next few weeks.

While SPY might still be headed to all-time highs this week, we’re unable to maintain our green signal due to poor breadth and charts underneath the surface.

Extreme caution is warranted.
